Marsh's Power Forum draws key European players to discuss power risk and insurance issues

London, 22 April 2008

Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk adviser, today announces details of this year's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Power Forum, which will be held in Paris on 6-7 May.

The conference, to be held at the Le Meridien Montparnasse, has attracted leading luminaries from the EMEA power and utilities sector to discuss in depth with their international peers the current and future risk and insurance issues confronting their businesses. Over 120 senior industry delegates from 23 countries have already registered to attend.

The Power Forum will be addressed by some of the most respected leaders and commentators in the European power and utilities sector, including: Knud Ledeboer, Siemens; Mark Tetley, Nuclear Risk Insurers; and Dr. Pascal Rochat, Active Niche Funds. Chris Lambert from the Westminster Energy Forum will deliver the keynote address on, "The balance of power - implications of strategic trends in the multi-polar energy world".

Commenting on this year's Power Forum, Gordon Springett, Leader of Marsh's Power and Utility Practice for EMEA, said: "This year's Power Forum will focus on both the long and short-term issues facing the power industry globally in 2008. These range from the immediate pressures associated with rising electricity and fuel input prices and the growing demand for power, through to systemic challenges relating to climate change.

"While European power firms are responding to these challenges in a number of ways this involves risks to their businesses which they must mitigate as far as possible in the interest of their stakeholders and consumers."

Marsh's Power and Utility Practice serves the electric, gas, and water industry and provides risk solutions geared towards the sector's unique financial, regulatory, and operating environments. The practice comprises leading experts with an exceptional understanding of industry issues and marketplace demands.

Journalists are welcome to attend all sessions of the Power Forum. For a full agenda and details on how to register, please contact Eileen Mercer on: eileen.mercer@marsh.com
