Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, has appointed Rod Ratsma as Leader of its UK Business Continuity Management (BCM) team. Mr Ratsma will report to Jeff Colburn, Leader of Marsh’s UK Risk Consulting Practice and succeeds Martin Caddick in the role.

Mr Ratsma is a highly respected pioneer in the fields of business continuity and disaster recovery. As Leader of Marsh’s UK BCM team, he will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of the firm’s business continuity-related products and services to existing and prospective clients.

Mr Ratsma joined Marsh as Managing Consultant of the BCM team in 2008 from Siemens Enterprise Communications (Insight Consulting), where he was Principal and Head of Continuity Consulting for two years. He has also held director-level positions with SunGard Availability Services, Guardian iT plc and Safetynet Group, where Mr Ratsma and his team helped to develop the BCM Good Practice Guide, which went on to contribute to industry standards, PAS 56 and BS 25999.

Commenting on Mr Ratsma’s appointment, Mr Colburn said: “Rod has extensive expertise in business continuity management. Under Rod’s leadership and guidance, Marsh’s BCM team will empower clients to take a bolder approach towards business continuity planning and be able to face an uncertain future safe in the knowledge that they are at least prepared for what may come.”
