Airport concessionaires scheme
Case study

Airport concessionaires scheme

The airport concessionaires scheme is placed by means of a facility underwritten at Lloyd’s and can provide for third party motor vehicle property damage, and/or bodily injury, and/or third party general public liability.

The scheme is designed to provide third party legal liability insurance for concessionaires, contractors and, occasionally, individuals working in or about the airport premises but predominantly airside. For example, window cleaners, office cleaners, surveyors, photographers, delivery agents, catering agents – basically any facility which is required in the ‘outside world’ is usually required within the confines of an airport.

Cover is not restricted to UK airports or any one airport authority/operator but the insured does have to be UK domiciled/registered and cover does exclude activities in the USA and Canada.

Scale rates apply to limits of £5m and above but a lower limit can be catered for, if required. The maximum limit available under the scheme is £100m. The scheme does have a standard excess of £1,500 for third party motor vehicle property damage. Cover can be provided for a period of 24 hours to annual cover, depending upon contract terms.

  • General exclusions
  • War and allied perils (however, coverage is available under the scheme at an additional premium surcharge)
  • Asbestos exclusion
  • Products liability
  • Road traffic act liability
  • Noise and pollution
  • Radioactive contamination.
